Easy Slow Cooker Osso Bucco

Osso Buccs (Shin Rings) is beef shin with the bone in.  It comes from the bottom section of either the front or rear leg of the cow. It contains some gristle and connective tissue and is a well-worked part of the animal. It is perfect for slow cooking and falls off the bone when you cook it low and slow.

Our Slow Cooker Osso Bucco

3-4 Osso Bucco (AKA Shin Rings)

1 can of diced tomatoes

1 packet of French onion soup

1 cup of beef stock

2 bay leaves

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 carrot diced

1 onion diced

2 sticks of celery diced.

Salt & Pepper

Method

  1. Place carrot, onion and celery in bottom of slow cooker.
  2. Mix in a bowl the can of tomato, French onion soup, beef stock, bay leaves, brown sugar and salt & pepper.
  3. Place shin rings on top of your veges and pour over mixture.
  4. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  5. Serve with mashed potatoes.
