Mediterranean Spiced Mince

This is quick and tasty way of using beef mince that is a little different from the usual savoury mince.  It is a dry fried mince and is fantastic served over a roasted half eggplant with yoghurt tahini sauce.

 

500g beef mince

1 onion, finely diced

3 cloves of garlic, crushed

2 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 teaspoon of oregano (or Zatar, if you have it)

2 teaspoons of smoked paprika

1 teaspoon of ground cumin

Salt & pepper

Fresh coriander

 

Sauté onion in olive oil until lightly golden.

Add the mince and garlic and mix through.

Increase heat to high and cook until the mince starts to brown (around 8 minutes).

Add spices, salt & pepper and stir through.

Cook on high heat for another 2-3 minutes, stirring often.

Remove from the heat, stri through fresh chopped coriander, season to taste, and serve.

 

Yoghurt Tahini Sauce

1 cup full-fat Greek Yogurt

3 tablespoons tahini stirred well

2 cloves of garlic, minced

2 tablespoons  or ‘a good squeeze’ of lemon juice

Salt & pepper to taste
