Y-Bone for Two

Y-bone steak comes from the shoulder blade and is a very under-rated cut. It tastes best when cooked for longer and this recipe really showcases just how delicious this cut can be.

Y-bone for Two

2 pieces of Y-Bone

1 onion – sliced.

1 small can of mushrooms in butter sauce

1 ½ tablespoons vinegar

¼ cup of tomato sauce

¼ cup of water

1 ½ tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

½ teaspoon Dijon mustard (or any mild mustard)

1 teaspoon salt & pepper

1 tablespoon brown sugar

Method

  1. Place Y-bone steaks in a baking dish, ensuring the dish is big enough to lay both steaks out flat.
  2. Cover the steaks in sliced onion.
  3. Combine the remaining ingredients in a bowl and pour over the steak.
  4. Cook in a moderate oven (180 degrees Celsius) for 1.5 hours.
